Board Openings

Volunteer for an Organization that is Transforming the Baltimore LGBTQ+ Community!

It's not all fun and games (but that is a big part of it). Since opening as the 20th Chapter in 2020, Stonewall Sports- Baltimore has provided our local LGBTQ+ community and allies a safe space to make new friends, network, and have fun playing community sports. We do this in a welcoming, encouraging, affirming environment where players are encouraged to be their authentic selves. What's more, we have given back to the greater community in many other ways, including making over $20,000 in donations to our Philanthropic Partner, Baltimore Safe Haven.

Now we are hoping you will join us in furthering this mission. You will have the opportunity to continue this positive trajectory while making a meaningful difference. We have two important leadership roles we are looking to fill with the right candidate ASAP.

Applying is as easy as 1-2-3:

1) View the Position Descriptions Below to see which role you are most interested in and which most closely aligns with your skillset.

2) Dust off your resume and prepare a quick Personal Statement of Interest (details below)

3) Complete & Submit the Board Interest Form.

Please contact Ronny with any questions you may have. We look forward to reviewing your application!

Sports Director (Kickball Director)

The Sports Director shall oversee the day-to-day operations of their assigned sports league(s), including supporting captains, managing the Technical Director, and engaging the players. Conceptually, each established sport of the league will have its own director (i.e. Kickball Sports Director, Dodgeball Sports Director, Bocce Ball Sports Director, etc.). Nothing in these bylaws shall prohibit an individual from being director of more than one sport. The Sports Director shall be the final authority on the rules, regulations, and interpersonal disputes of their sport and shall be responsible for updating the rules for the league. The Sports Director shall be responsible for identifying, recruiting, and training captains and Division Leads for each season as needed. The Sports Director shall ensure that players for their sport are recruited, engaged, and regularly updated on the season, leveraging other chapter leaders. The term of the Sports Director is two (2) fiscal years; they may serve a maximum of two (2) consecutive terms.

Director of Finance & Administration

The Finance and Administration Director is responsible for the league’s financial transactions and Board administrative efforts. The Finance and Administration Director will maintain financial records, Board minutes, and general archives for the league, as well as prepare a budget each season, monitor the financial accounts, and be responsible for all financial transactions.

Consider answering the following questions in your statement: Why are you interested in joining the Stonewall Sports Board? Why are you interested in the chosen role (s), and why do you think you'll be effective? Do you have any ideas or initiatives you would undertake in the role(s)? If applying for multiple positions, be sure to address each of them.
